Arc'teryx launches circularity platform, upcycled collection

Canadian performance outerwear and equipment retailer Arc’teryx introduced on Wednesday a new circularity program dubbed ReBird, alongside its first-ever upcycled products made from post-consumer materials.

Through the ReBird platform, customers will be able to access the Arc’teryx Used Gear resale initiative and purchase Arc'teryx's upcycled Stowe Windshell, made from end-of- the-roll materials reclaimed from the production process, along with the brand’s first-ever upcycled products crafted from post-consumer materials; the Upcycled Tote and Pouch.

Likewise, the digital ReBird platform will serve as an interactive space for education and storytelling where customers can connect to the brand’s ongoing initiatives in circularity, including upcycling, resale, and care and repair.

Next, customers in New York and Chicago will be able to shop pieces from Arc’teryx Used Gear in person for the first time as they will be displayed for a limited time at in-store events in both cities this summer.

“At Arc’teryx we have always built products that last, and durability is crucial to how we see ourselves contributing to a more circular economy and achieving our global climate goals," said Katie Wilson, senior manager social & environmental sustainability.

“It enables us to do fun work like make new product from old, resell used gear, and repair. While some of this work has been happening as long as we’ve been in existence, some of it is brand new.”

ReBird is Arc’teryx’s first customer-facing platform within the sustainability and circularity space since launching their Used Gear Program in 2019. It also contributes to the brand’s previously announced Science-Based Targets to reduce greenhouse gas emissions intensity by 65 percent by 2030.

Earlier this month, it named Nicole McLaughlin as the brand’s first-ever design ambassador. The New York-based designer equally has a focus on sustainability.

Arc’teryx is a Canadian company based in the Coast Mountains. Its products are distributed through more than 3,000 retail locations worldwide, including over 80 branded stores. The digital ReBird platform is now accessible via the brand’s website.
