Sydney’s Powerhouse Museum is taking Isabella Blow’s eccentric fashion, shoes and accessories collection to Australia, where they will be showcased in an exclusive exhibition called “Isabella Blow: A Fashionable Life”.

Running from 14 May to 17 July, the exhibition will spotlight Blow’s personal collection, which was purchased in its entirety by fashion muse Daphne Guinness after Isabella’s death in 2007. Approximately 100 objects for the Isabella Blow collection will be featured in the bespoke exhibition.

Despite previous exhibitions celebrating the editor’s life and wardrobe, such as “Fashion Galore!”, some of her pieces included in “A Fashionable Life” will be seen for the first time. The exhibition will also include clippings of the British icon’s editorial work, photographs and illustrations.

“Visitors to Sydney will discover an incredible fashion collection featuring some of Britain’s most acclaimed designers that can’t be seen anywhere else in Australia or our region,” said Australian Minister for Trade, Tourism and Major Events, Stuart Ayres.

“We are extremely excited to be supporting the Isabella Blow exhibition,” said Stuart McCullough, Managing Director of The Woolmark Company. “Isabella was a true believer in nurturing talented fashion designers, and this perfectly aligns with The Woolmark Company’s ongoing commitment and dedication to fostering the education of emerging design talents.”

Isabella Blow was considered a patron of fashion and art, and was credited for discovering and championing a number of emerging designers, such as Alexander McQueen, Philip Treacy, Hussein Chalayan and Stella Tennant. She began her career at US Vogue and worked for British Vogue, Tatler Magazine and the Sunday Times, where she became Fashion Director of the Style section.
