GDS International : Footwear trends - Fall-Winter 2009/2010

Published
Feb 24, 2009

On view is a preview of Fall - Winter 2009/2010 footwear trends that will be seen at the upcoming GDS International Event for Shoes and Accessories which runs concurrent with the Global Shoes sourcing trade show. Obsession, Balance, and Collected: a display of three trend boards featuring color palettes and brief synopsis for the footwear and accessories trade.

OBSESSION
Purist, straightforward and minimalist, the design is strict to hyper feminine. Dark, shaded black-type tones -preferably combined with pure black - make for a commercially safe theme. They produce a strong effect on many materials be they dull, smooth, shiny, soft, rugged or textured. The favourites in this theme are blood red and reddish violets.

BALANCE
Banking on neutral and natural nuances, Balance is predestined for prime labels: these are the soft colours that perfectly set off that first-class finish and look fantastic with high-quality materials. Key here are soft nappa and suede leathers, fine animal skins, furs and knits. The Balance style is either very sophisticated or really rustic.

COLLECTED
Collected makes for a colourful picture featuring clear complementary contrasts and powerful patterns. The look is opulent and young. Drawing on unlimited resources are tartans, Canadian lumberjack checks, glenchecks and kitchen patterns, all types of checks are also part of the game. Inspiration is furthermore provided by artsy collages, classic Nordics, Eastern folklore, Oriental rugs and camouflage ideas, to name but a few of the sources...
