Tiffany & Co. prize will give London art students free studios

Published
Sep 11, 2017

Tiffany & Co. has partnered with Studiomakers Partner Outset Contemporary Art Fund to offer seven rent-free art studios and an exhibition space to outstanding MFA students in London over the next three years.

Winners will receive a rent-free studio for twelve months as well as a shared gallery room to help the students further their careers in art. The prize is available to students attending the Royal Academy Schools, The Royal College of Art, Slade School of Fine Art, Central Saint Martins, Chelsea College of Arts, Wimbledon College of Arts and Goldsmiths University of London.

Tiffany & Co. has a longstanding brand history of supporting the arts. The connection with the arts is founded in the brand's belief that it has a greater responsibility to connect with the community than just as a retailer.

Founder Charles Lewis Tiffany was an original trustee of The Metropolitan Museum of Art. His son Louis Comfort Tiffany was an integral player in the American Art Nouveau movement.

Tiffany & Co. sponsored the Robert Rauschenberg exhibit opening at the Tate Modern in December 2016, and is sponsoring the next three Whitney Museum of American Art Biennials in New York through 2021.

The first panel of judges for the Tiffany & Co. x Outset Studiomakers Prize is led by Tiffany & Co. VP, Creative Director - Store Design and Creative Visual Merchandising, Richard Moore. Margot Heller, the Director of the South London Gallery, and Sam Thorne, Director of Nottingham Contemporary, will judge as well as artists and UK magazine editors.

To be considered, students will have to submit applications to the panel of artists, designers and journalists. The prizes will be bestowed in September 2017.
