Tony Batlló is leaving his role as general manager of the wholesale business division at Mango, FashionNetwork.com can reveal.

Franchises account for 55% of Mango's store sales - Mango

The executive joined Mango in 2012, and held a number of roles with varying responsibilities for retail and expansion both in and out of Spain. He was first responsible for the company in America, and then moved on to lead the company’s growth internationally. Most recently, he was in charge of expanding the business through franchising.

Batlló was a member of Mango’s executive committee. An industrial engineer with experience in business administration, before joining Mango he worked at Privalia for over a year as managing director for Europe.

He will be replaced by Núria Font, who has been with the Spanish retailer for over 12 years. With a degree in business administration and management, she was part of Batllós’ team.

Her appointment comes as Mango continues to work to improve its profitability. In financial year 2017, the brand narrowed its losses by 45% to 33 million euros, compared with 61 million euro losses in the previous year.

The franchises are an essential part of the company’s business model: at the end of last year, they accounted for 55% of store sales. This year, the chain is planning to maintain its growth and open another 45,000 square metres of franchised space worldwide.
