JW Anderson launches campaign photographer search, makes over Shoreditch store

Published
Feb 7, 2018

JW Anderson is having a busy - and creative - time at the moment with a new search for emerging talent to shoot its next campaign, and a store collaboration with John Harragan that has seen it revamping its Shoreditch ‘Workshops’ location.

JW Anderson

The company handed over its store to the London-based decorative artist who specialises in hand-painted murals, Venetian plasters, Tadelakt plaster and decorative paint effects for walls and furniture.

It asked him to develop a British themed mural and the artist suggested different landscape ideas to paint on the curved wall of the Workshops. One of the ideas was Stonehenge and that’s the one that has made it into the store.

Meanwhile the company also handed creative inspiration over to outsiders for its SS18 campaign with members of the public being invited to submit ideas and photos.

The brand’s Instagram account says: “Do you have image fatigue? Do you have a sharp vision? Do you want to be part of a new, new wave? Would you like to photograph our next campaign? No time wasters. It is not as easy as it looks. You have to know you have something to say. That something has to apply to our world. Send us 6 original images you have taken. Images of the here and now, wherever you are. People, landscapes, objects, everything. Unpublished.”

A jury headed by brand founder Jonathan Anderson will review the submissions with an exhibition set to take place in London and that could mean “you might shoot our next campaign,” the Instagram post added.

The aim is to build on similar (but smaller) projects of the past in order to help emerging talent. Entrants have to be aged between 18 and 30 and can be professional or amateur photographers.

The final results will be seen as online, print and out of home ads.
