Former CEO of Cortefiel group takes charge of El Ganso

Berta Escudero, who last October stepped down as CEO of the Cortefiel retail group, has recently taken charge of Spanish fashion retailer El Ganso.

L Capital, the investment fund operated by French luxury group LVMH, owns 49% of El Ganso, which earlier this summer poached also the Creative Director of the Cortefiel group, Ricardo de la Heras Vituita. Berta Escudero will work alongside El Ganso's General Manager and co-founder Albaro Cebrian.

Escudero joined the Cortefiel group in 2006, first as Supply Chain Director and later adding IT to her remit. Then, in October 2015, she took full charge of the corporation. Before joining Cortefiel, Escudero worked for ten years at Procter & Gamble in various product management and sourcing positions. She then joined first Chupa Chups then Puig.

In the fiscal year 2016, El Ganso reported a net revenue of €82 million, up 17% over the previous year, and is planning to top the 200-store mark in 2017. The fashion retailer has notably boosted its digital strategy, investing in excess of €360,000 in various projects designed to maximise its online sales. As a result, the label's e-tail performance improved by 87% in the second half of 2016, compared to the same period in 2015.
