All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (APTMA) will host a convention on textile growth in the second week of July. The meeting will be jointly organised by the textile associations and industries of the country. The textile conference will focus on developing various programmes and policies for the growth of textile industry in Pakistan.

The textile industry accounts for 60 per cent of Pakistan's total exports - DR - DR

Textile industry accounts for 60 per cent of Pakistan's total exports. It can be further improved with the development of efficient and competitive business environment, said APTMA secretary general Anis ul Haq, according to Pakistani media reports.

"We want to compete with the regional competitors including India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Vietnam for enhancing the county’s export to achieve the target of economic stability and growth," said Haq.

Implementation of the Rs 180 billion export package will boost the exports of the textile industry. This will have a positive impact on the country's economy, said Haq adding that the package will also reduce import duty on machineries, increasing the production of the industry at an affordable price.

Further, the convention will also throw light on the availability of energy at regionally competitive price as it plays an important role in the production process. Power supply is essential in the spinning, weaving and processing industry.
